Let's be honest about two things. First, a fully funded scholarship can change the entire direction of your life — a master's at Oxford, a PhD in Singapore, research in the United States — without your family selling anything, borrowing anything, or shelving the dream "until we can afford it." Second, these scholarships are seriously competitive. Flagship awards like Gates Cambridge offer around 70 places a year to applicants from the whole world, and selection committees read thousands of applications from brilliant students across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and beyond.
So why do Pakistani students keep winning them, year after year? Because "fully funded" rewards preparation more than privilege. When a programme pays your tuition, gives you a monthly stipend to live on, books your flight and sorts your health insurance, the only currency left is the quality of your application — your grades, your story, your research idea, and whether you applied on time with every document in order. That is a game a student from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad or a small town with no connections can absolutely win, and students just like you prove it every cycle.
This page collects the fully funded opportunities currently live on Dare To Dream that are open to Pakistani applicants, each one verified by our team against the official programme details. You'll find the famous names — Fulbright, Gates Cambridge, MEXT, the Chinese Government Scholarship — and quieter gems students often miss, like the Eric Bleumink Fellowship in the Netherlands and SINGA in Singapore. Most are for master's and PhD students, one is for established academics with a PhD, and there's even a fully funded research internship in Germany for computer science students who are still studying.
One piece of big-brother advice before you scroll: the deadlines below start closing within days, not months. Pick two or three that genuinely fit your profile, start with the nearest deadline, and give that application everything you've got. Your future self — the one holding an award letter — will thank you for starting today.

18. Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) — South Korea
Deadline: varies by embassy/university track — see the D2D post · Undergraduate & Graduate · View on Dare To Dream
South Korea's flagship government scholarship covers tuition fees, airfare, a living stipend, health insurance and research funding for degrees at designated Korean universities. You'll need a GPA of 80% or higher (or top 20% of your class) and to be under 40. Only 62 of the 146 eligible countries qualify for the University Track, and each embassy and university runs its own process — the D2D post links the official eligibility pages so you can confirm your route.
How to apply (the simple, honest process)
- Shortlist ruthlessly. Pick 2–3 scholarships from the list above that match your degree level, field and eligibility. A focused, excellent application beats five rushed ones.
- Open the D2D post, then the official page. Every post above links the official programme page. Rules, forms and deadlines live there — always apply through the official portal, never through anyone charging you a "processing fee."
- Prepare your documents early. Transcripts, degree certificates, passport, CV, recommendation letters and English scores take longer than you think. Our guide on how to prepare documents for any scholarship application walks you through it.
- Write an essay that sounds like you. Selection committees read thousands of identical essays. Read our scholarship essay guide and avoid the common application mistakes that quietly reject good students.
- Submit before the deadline — not on it. Portals crash, time zones bite (several deadlines above are in local times like HKT, JST and Hawaii time), and referees need chasing. Aim for one week early.
Frequently asked questions
What does "fully funded" actually cover?
It varies by programme, but on this page it means the big costs are paid: tuition, a monthly living stipend, and usually travel and health insurance too. The details differ — the Eric Bleumink Fellowship includes books and travel, while the NPU CSC scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, insurance and a stipend but generally not international airfare. Always read the funding section of the individual post before you apply.
I am a Pakistani student. Which scholarships on this page am I definitely eligible for?
The Eric Bleumink Fellowship and the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships explicitly name Pakistan in their eligibility, and the Fulbright Scholar Program above is exclusively for Pakistani academics. Most others — SINGA, HKPFS, Gates Cambridge, MEXT, Yenching, NPU CSC — are open to international applicants including Pakistanis, but always confirm the current country list on the official page linked from each post. One warning: the Swedish Institute Scholarship is fully funded and popular, but Pakistan, India and Nepal are not eligible for it (Bangladesh is), which is why it isn't on this page.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship at the same time?
Usually yes — applying to several programmes in the same season is normal and smart. But read the fine print: the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship allows only ONE application and duplicates disqualify you, and some awards (like ADB-JSP) require a separate university admission application as well as the scholarship application.
Do I need work experience to apply?
For some, yes: ADB-JSP requires at least two years of full-time professional experience, and the Fulbright Scholar Program is for academics who already hold a PhD. But many of the biggest awards — Eric Bleumink, SINGA, HKPFS, MEXT — are open to fresh graduates with excellent grades. Check the eligibility section of each post.
I have a study gap or average grades. Is it still worth applying?
Yes — but choose wisely. Some awards are purely grades-driven, while others weigh leadership, research potential and your story. Pick the programmes where your strengths match what selectors ask for, and strengthen your file with the steps in our fully funded study guide.
