UTRIP (University of Tokyo Research Internship Program) is the flagship fully-funded summer research program of the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Science for international undergraduates in the natural sciences.
The program runs for 6 weeks, from late June to early August 2027 (exact dates to be announced). Applications for the 2027 cycle open in November 2026, with the application deadline expected in early January 2027.
Fully funded:
- Accommodation
- Meal support
- Japanese language course
- Undergraduate students in their 2nd year or above
- Majoring in natural sciences: physics, astronomy, chemistry, earth & planetary science, biological sciences
- Enrolled at a university outside Japan
- Hands-on research under University of Tokyo professors
- Intensive Japanese language and culture course
- Excursion outside Tokyo
- Pathway to graduate study at the University of Tokyo
