UBC International Scholars Program 2027
Need-and-merit-based awards for outstanding international undergraduates entering UBC in September 2027 — up to the full cost of study and living. Nomination required; apply by November 15, 2026.
The UBC International Scholars Program is the University of British Columbia's flagship need-and-merit-based funding program for outstanding international undergraduate students entering directly from secondary school for the September 2027 intake. Open across UBC's Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, the program brings together four of UBC's most generous awards for students who combine superior academic achievement with significant, provable financial need.
Applications for the International Scholars Program are now open. You must be nominated by your high school or a registered non-profit and supported by a teacher referee, and you must complete the UBC admission application before submitting the award application. The award application deadline is November 15, 2026.
The International Scholars Program comprises four need-and-merit-based award categories:
- Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award
- Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award
- International Impact Award
- Vantage One Excellence Award
Award values depend on the category and each student's assessed financial need, and can extend up to the full cost of the academic program and living expenses.
- Complete the UBC admission application first — you must apply for admission before submitting the award application.
- Secure a nomination — ask your high school or a registered non-profit to nominate you (maximum 2 nominees for UBC Vancouver, including Vantage College, and 1 for UBC Okanagan).
- Arrange a teacher referee — one teacher recommendation is required.
- Submit the International Scholars award application by November 15, 2026. Nominator and referee recommendations must be submitted a few days before November 15.
