About This Book

The MSc Applied Psychology (Singapore) is a 15-month, part-time programme delivered in partnership between Aston University and the College of Allied Educators (CAE) in Singapore. It blends online distance learning, clinical training and campus-based seminars/workshops to develop practical, evidence-based skills for careers in clinical, health, forensic and organizational psychology.

Who can apply

This programme is designed for applicants who already hold relevant postgraduate (level-7) psychology credit and who wish to develop clinical and applied psychology skills. Typical applicants include:

• Practitioners with prior level-7 psychology credits (see RPL notes below).
• Psychology graduates seeking clinically-oriented postgraduate training for careers in counselling, clinical, health or organisational psychology.
• Professionals in allied health wanting to formalise/upgrade their psychology credentials.

Entry requirements (summary)

• Entry into Stage 2 requires a minimum of 60 credits at level 7 in Psychology obtained through recognised prior learning.
• Those 60 credits should have been completed within the previous 3 years and have an overall minimum mark of 65%.
• English language: GCSE in English at grade C or above or an approved English language qualification (e.g. IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0) if you do not hold an appropriate GCSE.

Curriculum: Modules cover Social Psychology; Brain & Behaviour; Cognition & Cognitive Neuropsychology; Psychology & Wellbeing; plus a Research Project in Applied Psychology. The programme emphasises evidence-based clinical practice and research skills.

• Career prospects: Graduates move into roles such as clinical or counselling psychologist (where local professional registration routes are satisfied), health psychologist, I/O psychologist, forensic psychologist, research or further academic study.
